Working Principle

During the negative half cycle of the input voltage, the anode of the second diode is forward-biased and the first diode is reverse-biased. In this condition, current flows from the anode of the second diode to the cathode of the first diode resulting in a voltage drop across both the diodes. This voltage drop is then provides a DC output.
