Working Principle

MBRB20200CT-TP is a four-diode bridge rectifier based on surface-mount technology. The device utilizes four PN junctions which are connected as a four-diode bridge, forming a low forward voltage drop path for current rectification.The device works in the following way: when an AC voltage is applied across the input terminals, the diode bridge rectifier converts alternating current into direct current. When the voltage across the input terminals is positive, the diodes on the upper side of the bridge conduct and the ones on the lower side remain in OFF state. Thus, the current passes through the positive side of the rectifier bridge and the output voltage is also positive. When the voltage across the input terminals is negative, the situation is reversed. The lower diodes on the bridge conduct and the voltage is negative at the output of the bridge rectifier. The common advantage of rectifier array devices is the low Vf, due to which the voltage drop across the rectifier is minimized and the efficiency is increased.
