The MC100E016FN is a Logic - Counters, Dividers component produced by ON Semiconductor. It is a high-speed, low-power CMOS 16-bit presettable binary counter with real-time decoding applications.The MC100E016FN is a programmable logic component which is used to convert digital signals into different logical signals. It is applicable to those applications that need real-time decoding. Examples include RF communications, digital audio encoding, digital display control, level detection, frequency division and waveform-shaping.The MC100E016FN is a 16-bit presettable binary counter. It consists of sixteen AND gates that feed into the input of sixteen D-Flip-Flops which then feed into an output stage connected to sixteen AND gates. The output of these sixteen AND gates can be used to generate any number of logic signals.In its basic operation, the MC100E016FN is capable of counting from 0 to 2^16 (65535), but this range can be expanded using an input for external asynchronous loading as well as a Preset terminal to set a specific count. The counter can be reset using either an active-low Reset terminal, or a positive-edge Clock pulse.The MC100E016FN also has four operating modes; Normal, Zero Count, Single Shot, and Hold modes. The Normal mode allows the counter to continue to count in the same direction until reset. The Zero Count mode allows the counter to count to zero and reset itself, no matter what the current count is. The Single Shot mode allows the counter to operate in a single-shot fashion, where it will count and then reset itself after reaching a specific count. The Hold mode allows the counter to continue counting as normal, but it will not reset itself until an active-low reset is received. The MC100E016FN utilizes a two-phase non-overlapping clock source, providing a high-speed, low-power operation. It is designed to operate from a single 5V supply and the output stages are configured to directly drive TTL and CMOS logic.The MC100E016FN is ideal for digital signal processing applications that need real-time decoding and counting capabilities. With its high-speed, low-power design and multiple operating modes, it is a great choice for any system requiring digital signal processing and counting capability.
