The MC10EP16VADT is a CMOS Electronic signal processing (ESP) device, commonly used in logic and specialty logic applications. It features an 8-bit programmable shift register, multiple counter and register configurations and numerous mode and port control functions. A common application for the MC10EP16VADT is as a multiplexer (MUX) controller, or a device that controls multiple outputs with a single data input. To perform its task, the MC10EP16VADT can accept up to 5 separate inputs and provide 2 or 3 separate outputs.
The MC10EP16VADT is fully compatible with both TTL and CMOS logic and operates at power supply voltages ranging from 2.7V to 5.5V. This device is capable of bidirectional data transmission, providing a high speed, error-free data transfer rate of up to 16 MHz. The MC10EP16VADT offers users four operating modes – Nondirectional Data Bus, Unidirectional Data Bus, High-Speed Unidirectional Single Channel and Hydraulic Data Bus. Nondirectional Data Bus is the ideal mode for applications with data transfer requirements of up to 8MHz. Unidirectional Data Bus is the ideal mode for applications with data transfer requirements of from 2MHz to 16MHz. The High Speed Unidirectional Single Channel mode is designed for applications with data transfer rates of up to 16MHz, and Hydraulic Data Bus offers data transfer rates of up to 8MHz.
When the device is powered up, it defaults to the Nondirectional Data Bus operating mode. This mode allows the MC10EP16VADT to accept a fully bidirectional byte-wide input data stream, process it and route it to two separate outputs – an 8-bit output port and a 5bit output port. Additionally, the MC10EP16VADT is capable of processing and buffering incoming data prior to routing it to the two output ports.
Unidirectional Data Bus mode provides the maximum achievable transmission speed of up to 16MHz and is ideal for the transfer of digital data from one system to another. In this mode, the MC10EP16VADT acts as an 8-bit octal (or 8-bit single channel) or 16-bit half-octal (or 16-bit dual channel) multiplexer for applications with up to 16MHz data transfer rates. The device supports both synchronous and asynchronous data transmission and also allows for multiplexing of both inputs and outputs. Furthermore, the device can be operated in a high speed mode, which allows for data transfer rates of up to 16MHz.
In the High Speed Unidirectional Single Channel mode, the MC10EP16VADT can be used to multiplex a single data input onto two separate output channels with a data transmission rate of up to 16MHz. This mode is ideal for applications where high data rates must be maintained, such as in medical and security systems. The Hydraulic Data Bus mode is specifically designed for applications where a large amount of data must be transferred. In this mode, the MC10EP16VADT can transfer up to 8MHz of data without the need for additional transmision circuitry.
By combining the Nondirectional Data Bus, Unidirectional Data Bus, High Speed Unidirectional Single Channel and Hydraulic Data Bus operating modes, the MC10EP16VADT provides an easy to use, reliable and cost effective solution for multiplexing and buffering data. This device is especially well suited for applications in logic and specialty logic where high speed data transfer, multiplexing and buffering is required. Furthermore, the MC10EP16VADT is designed for low power consumption, and is capable of operating at low voltage supplies (2.7V to 5.5V).
