Thanks to its high insulation voltage, the MC12FA500F-TF is capable of withstanding up high voltages, up to 1650VAC, which makes it well suited for applications such as switch-mode power supplies and motor controllers.In operation, the ceramic dielectric material sandwiched between the two metal foils acts as a dielectric, allowing the capacitor to store an electric charge. This electric charge is proportional to the amount of ceramic dielectric material and length of the metal foil layer. The electric charge stored inside the capacitor is then discharged when a voltage is applied across its leads.
