The MC33886PVWR2 is an integrated Power Management Control IC that optimizes the performance of the system by providing all the necessary components for the power management and signal control solution. It is a multi-channel buck-boost pre-driver with dedicated MOSFET gate drivers and a high performance signal controller making it the first choice for automotive applications such as electronic headlamp control, inverters, HVAC and robotics.

Working Principle
The MC33886PVWR2 has four gate drivers which are controlled by a single Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). Each driver uses a soft-start circuit to minimize inrush current during startup, thus reducing mechanical stress on the motor. The driver also supports a PWM frequency of up to 8 MHz to make the most efficient use of system power. To limit the peak current through the MOSFET switch, the integrated current sense comparators can be used to detect overload conditions while the device is in overdrive or pulse-width modulation (PWM) mode.
The wide VCC range of this device from 2.3V to 5.5V, its low quiescent current and its minimum load protection capabilities make it suitable for systems requiring a low-power, low-noise solution for efficient power needs.
In automotive applications, the wide input voltage range captures the widest range of input conditions and minimizes system power consumption. Other features such as pre-charge booster and pre-charge protection simplify the implementation of current protection of the power MOSFET. In addition, integrated thermal protection and pre-FAULT detection resistors provide further automatic protection for the system.
