MC34063LBB GEVB (General Electric Voltage Board) is a renowned off-line, DC/DC or AC/DC SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supplies) integrated circuit from Texas Instruments, which contains all the necessary components to construct a high-performance power conversion system. This versatile single-channel SMPS solution is well suited for numerous applications, such as LED lighting, industrial machinery, and consumer electronics.
The board comprises of a wide range of components, including an MC34063LBB DC/DC controller integrated circuit, an energy pot, an input filter, an opto-isolator, a rectifier, and a voltage regulator. This allows for easy prototyping and evaluation of the entire DC/DC solution, overcoming the need for breadboarding and optimizing the system without any external components or connections. The device monitors the output current and adjusts the on-time of the switch to maintain the target current. The system compensates for a decrease in load current by increasing the on-time of the switch and vice-versa for an increase in load current.
