MC7810ECDTXM is a three-terminal adjustable negative linear voltage regulator with very low output noise and guaranteed high stability. It is a member of the MC7800 Family of voltage regulators, which are ideal for general-purpose use in a broad range of applications.
This MC7810ECDTXM is designed to serve as a direct lossless replacement for standard commercial three-terminal negative linear regulators, such as the LM7810, LM7812, LM7912 and others. It offers improved accuracy, stability and performance over a wide temperature range.
MC7810ECDTXM operates over a 2V to 28V input voltage range and a 1A output current range. It provides a constant 10V output voltage up to a maximum of 12A load current.

Working Principle of MC7810ECDTXM
The MC7810ECDTXM operates on the principle of regulating the output voltage by using a reference voltage, a feedback circuit and an error-sensing circuit. The voltage regulator monitors the output voltage and compares it to the reference voltage, which is used to set the desired output voltage. If the output voltage differs from the reference voltage, the regulating circuit will adjust the internal components to match the desired voltage.
Specifically, when the output voltage deviates from the reference voltage, the error-sensing circuit produces a control current which, in turn, alters the control voltage across the internal operational amplifier. This control voltage is used to change the output voltage of the regulator by regulating the current flow in the feedback loop.
The combination of the reference voltage, feedback circuit, and error-sensing circuit create a regulated voltage output, regardless of input voltage or load conditions. This allows the MC7810ECDTXM to maintain a steady, constant output voltage across a wide range of input voltages, load currents, and temperatures.
