MC78LC33HT1G Application Field and Working Principle

MC78LC33HT1G devices, developed by ON Semiconductor, are three-terminal, low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulators. The MC78LC33HT1G device is a low-dropout linear IC containing a power transistor and a reference source. HOpin is the input, Vout is the output, and GND is the ground for the complete circuit. The voltage regulator IC features a 0.1V dropout voltage and an output current at least 1.5 A. It has an externally adjustable current limit and an internally set thermal limit. The device operates from an input voltage of 2.25 V to 10 V. It also features low operating current, low output noise, and temperature stability of 0.02%. It is available in SOIC-8 and TO-220-7 packages. The shift of output voltage is bound to the positive difference between the input and output voltages. The minimum drop-out voltage of the MC78LC33HT1G device is 0.1V at rated output current, 0.2 mA quiescent input current and over 1.5 A output current. It can provide up to 1.5 A output current with 0.1 V dropout voltage. The current limit is externally adjustable and thermal limit is internally set.The MC78LC33HT1G devices feature excellent error rate characteristics which make them suitable for applications requiring low input and output noise.
