The MC7912BD2TG has an output voltage range of 1 volts to 24 volts and is available in a surface mount SO-8 package, as well as in three-terminal TO-220, TO-263, and TO-220FP packages. The MC7912BD2TG features an industry-standard three-terminal adjustable output, consisting of an output terminal, a ground terminal, and a feedback terminal. The feedback pin also can be connected to a voltage reference, bypass capacitor, or zener diode to provide additional regulation, should it be needed.

The MC7912BD2TG operates from input voltages of up to 29 volts, with an acceptable input voltage range of 4 volts to 29 volts. The device provides short-circuit protection to sources of short-circuits and over temperature protection, as well as internal current limit protection. The device is stable when using any combination of capacitors that provide a minimum capacitance of 20 μF. In addition, the device incorporates an enable pin (or mode pin) and a flag output, which can be used to detect over-temperature faults or over-voltage conditions.
