Thyristors, commonly known as SCRs (Silicon Controlled Rectifiers), are semiconductor devices that come in many types, forms, and sizes. The various applications they are used in are largely determined by the form, voltage, type and current handling capability of the chosen SCR. One type of SCR is the MCD132-16IO1 module.

The MCD132-16IO1 is a ten-pin silicone-controlled rectifier module. It’s design is to enable low voltage, low current control of a medium or high voltage, high current load. This SCR module is a widely used device and is used in a variety of industries and applications, such as motor control, heat control, and lighting. This module can be considered a dual element. The motor will keep running until the current is reduced sufficiently to where the SCR can turn off.

The dual-element design ensures that a single SCR cannot actuate unless both SCRs are properly triggered. This means that if a problem occurs with one of the SCRs, the second SCR will still be in place to act as a redundant safety measure, protecting against overcurrent damage.
