The MCIMX27MOP4AR2 embedded microprocessor is part of a range of power efficient general purpose processors for embedded applications. The processor is based on a 400 MHz ARM Cortex-A5 core and features a DDR3/LPDDR2 memory controller, unified zero-latency cache, floating-point unit, NAND Flash controller, MLC NAND Flash controller, and PCIe port. MCIMX27MOP4AR2 processors are ideal for a wide range of embedded applications including digital signage, retail systems, industrial automation, kiosks, medical imaging, robotics and gaming systems.

The core of MCIMX27MOP4AR2 is a dual core, 64-bit ARM Cortex-A5 processor running at 400 MHz. The Cortex-A5 processor is based on a superscalar, out-of-order, 5-stage pipeline architecture, allowing it to achieve high performance while also consuming less power than a traditional processor. It also features a single instruction multiple data (SIMD) extension for accelerating multimedia and graphic performance, and an enhanced direct memory access (DMA) controller for fast data transfer. Additionally, it includes integrated support for a variety of peripheral interfaces.

The memory controller in the MCIMX27MOP4AR2 processor supports both DDR3 and LPDDR2 memories with a data rate of up to 800 MHz. The memory controller also features bcrpsaa virtualization and support for error correcting code (ECC).
