The MCP1601EV is a development board specifically designed for evaluation of the popular MCP1601 IC. The MCP1601 is a high-efficiency pulse-width modulated (PWM) controller IC designed to regulate the output voltage of a switched-mode power supply (SMPS). It supports both boost and buck topologies, and features an on-board linear regulator allowing a wide input voltage input range. The IC also integrates a Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) feature that allows spread spectrum modulation of its PWM frequency, making it an ideal choice for low-noise, AC-DC power conversion applications.
The MCP1601EV development board supports input voltages up to 40V, and offers a single output voltage of 0.5V to 15V. It also includes two external connections that allow engineers to evaluate the performance of the IC in both boost and buck topologies. With a maximum output current of 7A, the board can easily be used to evaluate the MCP1601 in a wide range of applications.
