MCP16331T-E/CH Working Principle

The MCP16331T-E/CH is a current-mode, fixed-frequency step-down converter that uses a switching power stage and pulse width modulating (PWM) control circuit to efficiently step down a DC input voltage and deliver an adjustable regulated output voltage. The device uses a fixed frequency, oscillator-driven, synchronous PWM, which allows the output voltage to be regulated precisely over a wide range of input voltage and load conditions.

The power stage consists of a high-side MOSFET and a low-side MOSFET, operated in a synchronous rectifying configuration, providing high efficiency and excellent dynamic operation at light loads.
