MCP2022-330E/P is a STEP/DIR motor drive controller chip which offers a wide range of features for driving a three-phase brushless DC motor. It incorporates a PWM buck-type power stage, two power supply input pins (VCC and PG) for connection to a 12V to 450V DC output voltage and accepts inputs from STEP/DIR control signals to drive the motor speed. This interface-drivers, receivers, transceivers device can achieve speeds up to 1000 rpm, with a maximum current of 4A per phase.The MCP2022-330E/P provides regulation of rotor position, time-based microstepping and anti-resonance protection with low noise and low temperature sensitivity. It can be used for operating a three-phase brushless DC motor and exhibits features such as a 7-bit RPM speed control input, fast and smooth regulation of the rotor position and a step/dir motor speed controller.The MCP2022-330E/P is a low-voltage motor drive controller chip that has low power dissipation, fast shutdown and low on-resistance output drivers. Its wide range of features helps to reduce system cost and simplify the implementation process. This device supports up to 32 microsteps per motor revolution, low power dissipation of up to 0.599 W, a maximum operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and a minimum operating temperature range of 0°C to 85°C.The working principle of this device is simple; it uses current-controlled buck converters along with a current-mode, pulse-width modulated (PWM) control to generate the necessary output voltage. The device can be powered by a 12V to 450V DC supply and then, the output of the device is regulated through the STEP/DIR control signals. This, in turn, drives the motor speed.Moreover, the MCP2022-330E/P provides a rich set of features and advanced functions such as motor control, closed loop speed control, micro-stepping, step/dir motor speed control and a built-in PWM control loop. The motor speed is regulated by the current-mode, pulse-width modulated (PWM) control to generate the necessary output voltage.The MCP2022-330E/P application field includes driving brushless DC motors in a variety of applications such as spinners and optical disc readers, medical equipment, robotics and robotic arms, and home automation products.
