It can be used as a potentiometer to adjust voltage, current, and signal levels, as well as to control gain and offset in various digital signal processing (DSP) applications. The Digital Pot has an addressable internal resistance range of 32 to 800 KΩ, which can be set through its on-board, non-volatile EEPROM. The Digital Pot also includes sixteen (16) 10-bit resistance tap values for further flexibility and control.The MCP40D17T-503E/LT is designed to operate from a 5V, +5V or ±5V power supply. It can also be operated from a single 4.5V to 5V power supply with the optional solder pads. The Digital Pot has an adjustable maximum operating temperature of -40°C to 85°C. An advantage of this device is that, unlike other Digital Potentiometers, it provides multiple voltage ranges and thereby reduces the need for different components.
