MCP4261-104E/ML is a digital potentiometer from the Data Acquisition family which offers an integrated solution for manual and automatic precision resistance adjustment to almost any applications. This device can be widely used for a huge variety of applications and can be used to control voltage and current levels, control power supplies and battery chargers, and calibrate circuit elements such as amplifiers and filters.
The MCP4261-104E/ML can produce a SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) controlled digitally controlled potentiometer with Wiper Position ganged wiper configuration. It has a low-noise, low-power architecture with serially controlled register equipped with EEPROM memory. Additionally, the device features both increased and decreased off-settable adjustment with up to 100,000 adjustment steps.
The device uses the SPI protocol, which both the host and the device share in order to send messages. This is fairly simple, since the host will send the necessary commands and the device will respond back with data that can be used to control other functions with the device. This allows for greater versatility, since any command sent to the device is going to be translated into some sort of action.
