The MCP6548-E/P comprises two comparator stages and a pair of outputs. The physical design includes two horseshoe-shaped orthogonal electrodes providing a wide range of input pressures for detecting and are protected by an epoxy layer for electrical insulation. The device is also compatible with a wide range of contact materials, including silver, aluminum, gold, and more.

The MCP6548-E/P monitors the contact displacement via bi-directional movements. Displacements on one electrode, the reference (REF), are sensed by two active comparators.
