The device is a single-supply rail-to-rail input and output low offset, rail-to-rail input and output comparator operating on a single-supply voltage from +2V to +50V.

The Linear-Comparator is a type of semiconductor device which operates forming signals into voltage level or logical states. This makes the device suitable for implementation into various applications such as interfacing electronic circuits, measuring signals, and controlling transistors or relays. Due to the low power sectors of the MCP6562T-E/MS\' power sector, it is applicable to a wide range of industries such as medical, industrial, and consumer applications.

The working principle of the MCP6562T-E/MS includes a voltage comparator and an output circuit for comparing two input voltages. The device contains an internal hysteresis which eliminates erroneous switching caused by noise. When there is a small difference between the VIN+ and the VIN- input signals, the comparator is in an “analog slow” mode and the internal hysteresis helps to prevent random switching due to noise. When there is a larger difference between the VIN+ and the VIN- input signals, the comparator is in a “digital fast” mode and the hysteresis resides near its highest setting.

The device also has an adjustable slew-rate which helps reduce unwanted transients and ensures a stable output. The output can be directly used to drive external transistors or relays for switching operations. The device also has an adjustable output drive buffering for selecting either a low quiescent current buffering or a higher current switching.
