The MCTC2490JLA is a type of Solid State Relay which are typically used for industrial automation, process control, commercial and residential settings. In order to keep the load current off for a specified time after the triggering cycles, a timer circuit is used. The timer consists of a resistor and capacitor network which produces a negative voltage at the timer’s output. This voltage produces a current which passes through the SCR gate lead, resulting in the case turning off.Since the operation of the MCTC2490JLA is completely solid state, it does not suffer from physical wear and tear due to the movement of its working components. This increases its reliability and lifetime beyond what is offered by mechanical relays. In addition, it has built-in protection against overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuit, and overtemperature conditions, further increasing its integrity in an industrial setting.
