Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a communication protocol that is used for transferring data and control signals between multiple devices on a bus. The IC provides a four-wire interface consisting of Clock (SCLK), Output Enable (OE), Slave Select (SS) and Data (SDI,SDO). Each device can be addressed, or selected, by driving the Slave Select line. The control, or handshaking, of the SPI communications is handled by two signals, OE and SCLK. When the Output Enable is asserted (HIGH), the MCZ33905DD5EKR2 reads the data input on SDI at the rising edge of the SCLK. Then the chip will shift out data (MSB to LSB) through the SDO line at each falling edge of the SCLK until all of the data has been transmitted. The Input shift register and Output shift register providing the data storage for both sides of the communication.
