MCZ34670EGR2 is a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) system controller developed by Microchip Technology. Working Principle
The working principle of the MCZ34670EGR2 is based on the IEEE 802.3AF/802.3AT PoE standards. The device first supplies a minimum power to detect remote power device (PD), then begins to provide the PD with enough voltage and current in order to power it up. All four ports can be enabled/disabled or individually adjusted to it’s maximum output. During operation, the MCZ34670EGR2 keeps measuring the current in each port to ascertain the power consumption of the PD, and will deactivate the port when the power drain exceeds its capability.
In addition to power management, the MCZ34670EGR2 also offers protective features to secure the circuitry of connected PDs. An inrush current limitation is available to restrict the peak power surge, while an overload and overtemperature protection prevent avoid excess power and heat.
