The MIC2042-2BM-TR is a family of configurable, wide-input, low-power, fast-transitioning power distribution switches, load drivers, and voltage-level translators. Within this family, there are two subfamilies. The MIC2042-2BM-TR is the low-power version, while the MIC2042-3BM-TR is the higher-power version.

The MIC2042 family is ideal for a wide range of applications, such as: distributed power control and load switching; synchronized load/line/ringing switching for VoIP; voltage level translation and power management between different power domains; and power supply sequencing, tracking, and voltage cascading.

The MIC2042 family offers a range of features, including: adjustable output current limits, programmable slew rates, slew suppression, low output-to-input delays, fast-enable transitions, and fault protection. Additionally, the MIC2042 family has an adjustable valid input logic reference, which allows for a wide range of threshold voltages for logic gate control.

The working principle of the MIC2042-2BM-TR is based on a pulse-width modulation (PWM) scheme. The PWM scheme is designed to operate at a fixed frequency of 250kHz, and the duty cycle is adjustable from 0-100%. On each switching cycle, the total current transfer along the output load line is calculated and compared with the programmed current limit threshold.
