Hot swap Controllers are specialized integrated circuits (ICs) that provide a host of features to enable safe and reliable system level Hot Swap management.The MIC2086-MBQS Hot Swap Controller enables designers to quickly and cost effectively add flexibility to their designs by providing ±200mV of accurate and adjustable under-voltage and over-voltage protection and adjustable in-rush current limiting capability.The MIC2086-MBQS Hot Swap Controller also provides maximum flexibility when it comes to controlling the power and/or ground pins of the board. With adjustable over-power and under-power detection thresholds, the MIC2086-MBQS is capable of handling a wide range of power and ground line voltage levels, while providing a maximum of 32ms of time-controlled inrush current limiting.At the same time, the MIC2086-MBQS is designed to integrate seamlessly with other ICs in the system and offers a wide variety of features to facilitate easy integration and cost effective design.The MIC2086-MBQS employs a unique, integrated dual-channel current limitation circuit. The Dual-Channel Current Limiting (DCCL) feature is an important protection mechanism for multiple power rails and its main purpose is to keep the system’s voltages within acceptable ranges. This feature allows the designer to accurately monitor the system’s power rails and control the inrush current levels to prevent over-power and over-current conditions.The MIC2086-MBQS also provides an adjustable over-current and temperature protection. The over-current protection is designed to protect the system from current spikes while the temperature protection will protect the system from hot-spotting and ensure that the system remains stable even in hot environments.Finally, the MIC2086-MBQS has an adjustable time-delay function which can be set to ensure a slower system power-up and power-down.
