The MIC2288YML–TR is a member of the PMIC - Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Regulators product family. It is an 8-channel LED controller, Super Cycle™ LED driver, boasting an advanced integrated DCDC converter and multiple output ground compensator. The device utilizes the average of the current-sense outputs providing optimization of the LED brightness. Native triple-level dimming is supported with a shutdown input to provide a linear dimming function. This makes the MIC2288YML–TR suitable for different applications, such as general-purpose LED backlighting, LCD TV, notebook, tablet, and smartphone backlighting.

The MIC2288YML–TR includes a proprietary current/voltage loop, which compares the LED current against a reference voltage and modulates it accordingly. A constant LED current is then maintained regardless of any voltage or temperature variations across the LED supply. An integrated 80mV reference is also included, leading to higher levels of accuracy.

The MIC2288YML-TR has an advanced shutdown feature that reduces total power consumption to less than 50mW. This further enhances its application field and extends the charge life of NFET batteries. All of its control pins can be interfaced to additional circuitry, while a PECL (Programmable Event Counter Logic) signal generator is included to generate PECL signals to drive external circuitry.

The MIC2288YML-TR offers multiple output ground compensator circuits, which provide optimizing of the LED current and brightness, helping to reduce power consumption while improving the accuracy of the current supply. In addition, all of its components are designed to yield a wide voltage range, operating from 6.5 to 32V. This enables the device to be used for multiple-output converters and DCDC synchronous power supplies.
