The MIC23156-0YCS-EV is an off-line switch mode power supply (SMPS) evaluation board designed to evaluate the device performance of the MIC23156 SR buck regulators. The SR buck regulator is a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller optimized for cost- and space-efficient non-isolated DC/DC and AC/DC power supplies.

The MIC23156-0YCS-EV utilizes standby and operating power to assess and verify the performance of the MIC23156 and board-level power components. An active power supply or high power plug-in adapter (such as USB-PD, Type C), and various input power (up to 33V) can be used to compare the current consumption between different input sources. In addition, under-voltage and over-voltage lockout features are included on the board-level components to protect against component damage, while maintaining the desired power supply efficiency. The MIC23156-0YCS-EV board also features dual outputs. VoutA and VoutB can be used individually or in combination to evaluate the performance of MIC23156 when working between the two output levels.

The MIC23156-0YCS-EV utilizes an active frequency modulation system to maintain the desired output voltage in a stable operating region. The system includes an on-board comparator, controller and power train components that work together to regulate and protect the output voltage. Additionally, the system includes an idle state converter that enables operation at lower output levels.
