MIC502YM is a motor driver, controller integrated circuit (IC) designed for DC motor applications. It provides brushless DC motor drive with high torque and low standby current. The applications of MIC502YM include industrial automation, robotics and home applications.

Working Principle

The MIC502YM IC is a three-phase brushless DC motor driver with three high-side and three low-side gate drivers integrated with a control logic circuit. It is used for regulating the speed of brushless DC motors by controlling the conduction of each of the three phases. The internal MCU of the IC receives the speed set-point signal from the external PWM signal, and then generates the first-order total least square correction signal to adjust the output power of the motor.

In order to ensure the reliable performance and output of the motor, the motor driver maintains constant motor speed even under a loaded torque condition by detecting the motor current. The IC can also provide protection functions to cut the output phase current in case of overcurrent or short-circuit.

Applications

MIC502YM motor driver ICs are mainly used in consumer, industrial, and automotive applications. In consumer applications, the IC is often used in energy-saving fans and air-conditioning systems. In industrial applications, the IC is commonly used in industrial automation, metering, and process control systems, or for operating pumps or mini factory-automated production line. In automotive applications, the IC can be used for powering automotive door or window mechanism.
