MIC5159YM6-TR Application Field and Working Principle
The MIC5159YM6-TR is a series of three-pin, fixed output low-dropout voltage regulator controllers from Microchip. This series of low-dropout regulator controllers are compliant to both the AEC-Q100 automotive standards and the JEDEC SON-8 power pad footprint. The MIC5159YM6-TR is available in several different packages including the SC-89, and SOT23-5.The MIC5159YM6-TR is a linear regulator controller, which can be used in a variety of applications. Its main function is to provide a regulated output voltage when supplied with either a constant or regulated voltage input. The MIC5159YM6-TR can be used to regulate smaller loads up to 200mA, typically in automotive, telecommunication, and other mobile equipment applications.The MIC5159YM6-TR contains a 1.8V band-gap reference, an error amplifier, a prefetched comparator for soft start, an N-channel MOSFET and a current limit protection. It also offers an active LOW logic-controlled shutdown pin input and an integrated under-voltage lockout (UVLO).The MIC5159YM6-TR series of three-pin, fixed output low-dropout voltage regulators have low quiescent current, excellent output voltage regulation, and fast transient response times, with a typical rise and fall times of 1µs and 4µs respectively. The MIC5159YM6-TR is able to operate at a wide input voltage range across the industrial, automotive, and absolute temperature range. When structuring a power supply design that uses the MIC5159YM6-TR linear regulator controller, designers can take advantage of the lower resistance and superior thermal characteristics of N-channel MOSFETs by following a few best practices. The low RDSon (ON resistance) of the MIC5159YM6-TR enables a greater degree of power efficiency.The MIC5159YM6-TR regulator can be used in a variety of applications, such as automotive power management, audio amplifiers, battery charging systems, and communication systems.
