The MIC5164YMM (hereinafter referred to as the ‘IC’) is a special purpose voltage regulator (PMIC) and is designed for active power management in battery and industrial applications. The integrated device combines power supply control, output and key control, which allow for optimal operating efficiency and reliable performance.
The device is a fully integrated active power management IC provides all the necessary regulation, protection and control for a wide range of battery operated applications. It is particularly well suited for portable consumer and wearable electronic markets. This sensing output is then compared to the desired reference voltage again, in order to adjust the PWM switching if necessary.
The device features two inputs. The first one is the main input pin, where the battery voltage is connected. The secondary input is optional and is intended to be connected to a reference voltage in order to accurately control the output voltage level. The main input operates as the energy source for the internal circuitry, while the secondary input acts as a reference point for the output voltage control.
The device also features several outputs. First of all, there is a short-circuit protection output, which is activated whenever the output current exceeds the rated limit. This output is designed to activate an external load circuit in order to reduce the total current drawn from the device. The MIC5164YMM also contains a low-side PWM output, which switches the MOSFETs on the output side in order to regulate the output voltage. This output is intended to bridge power supplied from the intermediate node of the MOSFETs, to the output of the IC. Finally, the device contains a logic output.
