The MIC5282-5.0YMME operates on the architecture of a conventional CMOS LDO regulator. The CMOS LDO regulator uses a regulated current from an internal PMOS transistor that is equal to the load current. This load current is compared to a reference voltage to produce a feedback voltage which is used to adjust the output voltage of the regulator. The output voltage is then compared to a reference voltage to maintain a precise output voltage. The internal PMOS transistor is disabled when the output voltage rises above a predetermined overvoltage threshold in order to protect the device.The MIC5282-5.0YMME offers a wide variety of features that make it suitable for a variety of applications.
