Introduction

MIC5283YML-T5 is a linear voltage regulator designed with power MOSFETs. It is optimized for low noise, high precision and high efficiency application. The linear voltage regulator enables users to provide low-dropout voltage, low quiescent current in standby or light load operations and wide input and output voltage range. MIC5283YML-T5 is specially design for power supply, AV system, instrument, automotive, Internet of Things (IoT), and various other application. The ability to provide very low voltage drop, high output power and integrated protection features makes it suitable for a wide variety of application.

Features

MIC5283YML-T5 offers a broad range of features to provide a variety of high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective designs. The device utilizes power MOSFETs to supply current to the load. It incorporates both a high-side and low-side MOSFET for low voltage drop and improved efficiency. In addition, the device integrates an internal voltage reference, thermal shutdown, overcurrent protection, short circuit protection, over temperature protection, under-voltage lockout, output current foldback and an integrated regulator into the single die. The integrated protection avoids costly external components. The device can operate within a wide input voltage range (from 2.8 to 28V). The output voltage (1.2V to 27V) and current (up to 2A) can be adjusted by changing a few external component values. By controlling the two MOSFETs and the integrated adjustable reference, the device is capable of tracking the demands of the load.

Working Principle

The MIC5283YML-T5 is designed with a low on-resistance power MOSFETs that switches current to the output and a voltage reference that sets the output voltage. This integrated voltage regulator adjusts the output voltage by continuously driving the MOSFETs using an internal comparator.The IC features an adjustable voltage reference that allows for accurate voltage regulation when the output voltage is being changed. When the output voltage is changed, the IC adjusts the sense voltage at one of its internal comparator inputs in order to maintain a constant regulated value. The device also has internal protections such as thermal shutdown, over-current protection, short-circuit protection, over temperature protection and under-voltage lockout to provide added protection for the system.The device\'s integrated circuit works by first sensing the output voltage at the FB terminal. If the output voltage is below the required value, the IC will feature a closed loop between the FB terminal and Output terminal, which will pull the output voltage to the targeted value.For any changes in the output voltage, the voltage reference will adjust accordingly such that the output voltage remains constant. This process is carried out continuously and occurs on a regular basis in order to ensure a highly accurate and efficient output voltage.
