PMIC - Voltage Regulators - Linear

The MIC5306-2.6YD5-TR is a low-dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator offering a precise 2.6V output. It is designed with very low quiescent current and low noise output, ideal for battery-powered applications such as cellular phones, PDAs and portable medical devices. The flexibility of the MIC5306-2.6YD5-TR provides designers with the ability to continue the life of their product platform and makes it an attractive solution for both cost-sensitive and size-constrained applications.

Its wide input voltage range of 1.5V to 7.0V ensures efficient results for applications powered by various sources such as a single Li-ion cell, alkaline/NiMH cells, rechargeable batteries, or switched power supplies. Its low quiescent current makes the MIC5306-2.6YD5-TR ideal for battery-powered applications. The MIC5306-2.6YD5-TR can also remain active in burst operation, extending the battery life with their low ground current of less than 500nA.

The MIC5306-2.6YD5-TR utilizes a low-noise, open-drain feature. With its Fast Transient Response (FTR) and high Power Supply Rejection Ratio (PSRR) of 76dB, this LDO linear voltage regulator provides better noise performance over a wide input voltage range. The MIC5306-2.6YD5-TR is also comprised of other features such as current limit and thermal-shutdown protection.

Working Principle

The linear voltage regulator works by taking a DC supply voltage, also known as an input voltage. This is then fed through a series of components such as transistors, diodes, and resistors, creating a feedback loop. This loop regulates the output voltage, allowing it to stay constant even as the input voltage changes.
