The MIC5330-MFYML-TR is a monolithic linear regulator device, which is intended to provide a highly efficient and economical solution for regulating the output voltage and maintaining the current limit of an electronic system or circuit. The device contains a high performance PFM-controlled switching regulator connected in parallel with a low dropout linear regulator, allowing it to operate over a wide input voltage range.The switching regulator portion of the device controls the output voltage by regulating the duty cycle of the integrated MOSFET switch. The duty cycle of the MOSFET is controlled by the PFM control loop, and the internal feedback control loop ensures that the output voltage remains constant and within specified limits, even under varying load and input voltage conditions.The low dropout linear regulator portion of the device is intended to reduce output ripple and noise, as well as providing an additional layer of output voltage protection. When the input voltage is close to the output voltage, the linear regulator portion is enabled and the output voltage is regulated within a +/- 10 mV window.
