The MIC5366-2.8YC5-TR from Microchip is a positive-voltage linear regulator featuring a wide input range, low-noise operation and high switching accuracy. It is ideal for powering multiple point-of-load (PoL) applications, such as FPGAs, DSPs and high-performance microprocessors. The MIC5366-2.8YC5-TR also offers multiple output configurations, ranging from 1.2 V to 3.3 V.

The MIC5366-2.8YC5-TR features a wide input range of 2.8 V to 5.5 V and a wide output voltage range of 1.2 V to 3.3 V. It offers excellent low-noise operation, with an output noise level of 10 μVrms RMS over a 10 MHz bandwidth. In addition, the MIC5366-2.8YC5-TR provides very high output voltage accuracy of ±3%, with a fast line and load response of ≤15 μs.

The MIC5366-2.8YC5-TR offers a wide range of output configurations, including a single output, dual-output, and single output/ dual-output combinations. The single output version is capable of providing up to 1.5 A, while the dual-output version can provide up to 500 mA on each of the two ports. The dual-output version also offers a 50% current-sharing feature, allowing the regulator to deliver a uniform current distribution over the two output ports, thereby providing a more efficient operation.

To protect the MIC5366-2.8YC5-TR from over-current and over-temperature conditions, it features an over-current protection (OCP) and over-temperature protection (OTP) circuit with adjustable thresholds. The OCP circuit monitors the voltage output and will shut down the regulator if the output voltage exceeds the programmed threshold. Similarly, the OTP circuit monitors the temperature of the device and will shut down the regulator if the temperature exceeds the programmed threshold.

The MIC5366-2.8YC5-TR also offers an advanced thermal protection (ATP) circuit which will reduce the output current if the device temperature exceeds the programmed threshold. This helps protect the device from overheating, ensuring reliable operation for long-term use. The device also features a programmable soft start circuit, which can be used to reduce inrush currents on startup.

The MIC5366-2.8YC5-TR is housed in a compact industrial-grade, space-saving SOT-23-5 package, making it ideal for portable applications and other space-constrained applications. It is also backward compatible with most popular linear regulator families and is RoHS compliant. The MIC5366-2.8YC5-TR is available in both commercial and automotive versions.
