The MIC5373-SJGYMT-TR is a high-performance linear voltage regulator, part of Texas Instruments\' Power manager integrated circuit product family, specialized for wearable and portable applications.

The MIC5373 fits a wide range of applications, as it offers an adjustable output voltage from 0.77 V to 6.495 V, with a guaranteed low-power consumption of only 263 µA (maximum).

In regards to its operation principle, the MIC5373 is a traditional linear voltage regulator that requires an input voltage at least 2 V higher than its output voltage. The input voltage is applied to the regulator\'s input and is then regulated by means of its transistor. The formation of the transistor will determine the output voltage, as well as its current.

The transistor is composed of a series of P-MOSFETS and N-MOSFETS and the transistor\'s voltage regulating system consists of two components: a DC reference voltage and a comparison circuit.

The DC reference voltage is provided by the MIC5373 itself, and is determined by the feedback resistor divider (R1 + R2) connected between the output and the reference pin. The voltage on the reference pin is compared to a reference voltage (VREF) internally generated by the MIC5373 and this comparison is used to adjust the gate voltage on the gate of the transistor.

The MIC5373 employs an on-chip load regulation circuit, which allows the output voltage to remain stable regardless of changes in load current. This load regulation circuit reduces the error amplifier\'s output voltage with increasing load current, thereby and compensating for the decrease in output voltage due to the increased current.

The MIC5373 also offers short circuit protection, in the event of an abnormal event this protection will ensure that the output current is limited and that no damage is caused.

The MIC5373 is a complex and versatile device wherein the features and specifications can be finely tuned according to a wide range of applications. As such, Texas Instruments offers the MIC5373 in three different packages, depending on the application.
