It combines a low voltage dropout control circuit, internal power-on reset (POR) circuit and over-temperature protection circuit. A comparator monitors the differential voltage between the output of the linear regulator and the reference voltage, and sends the signal to the control logic which adjusts the voltage until it is exactly equal to the reference voltage. The control logic is then used to drive the output mosfets, drawing current through the output, and controlling the output voltage to meet the required reference voltage.Furthermore, the MIC5841BV-TR features two integrated circuit (IC) shutdown function modes. The first mode allows the user to control the chip through an external pin, i.e. via controlling the output power. When the pin is “high”, the idea that the chip is in the “on” mode, when the pin is “low” the chip is in the “off” mode. The second mode allows users to control the chip’s operating mode via pulse width modulation (PWM) signals. The MIC5841BV-TR also has very good over temperature and reverse current protection features. It has an integrated thermal shut off circuit, which stops the device’s output if the chip’s die temperature exceeds 160°C. Additionally, it incorporates reverse current protection film which turns off the output current in the reverse direction.To conclude, the MIC5841BV-TR is a cost effective single channel PMIC, with a wide array of application prospects in automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics.
