The MK3200GLFT is an advanced Digital Clock Generator - one of the many, reliable clock generator solutions offered by Texas Instruments. The MK3200GLFT is designed to provide system clock and timing optimization solutions across a wide range of frequencies, from multiple reference clocks. The device offers excellent clock and timing jitter performance as well as a low-cost solution when compared to discrete clock generators. The MK3200GLFT has a wide range of possible applications in telecommunications, data communications, test & measurement, and aerospace & defense.
The MK3200GLFT utilizes the phase locked loop (PLL) to produce nearly any frequency desired, from a reference clock input. A PLL is a circuit which compares the phase of a reference signal, with a feedback signal and generates an error signal which is used to control the system frequency. The great flexibility of such PLLs as the MK3200GLFT makes them ideal for various clock and timing applications, including wireless communications, digital data transmission systems and timing clocks in digital electronics.
The reference clock to the MK3200GLFT can come from an external source, such as an oscillator or from an on-chip oscillator. The device is compatible with most reference frequencies, and can be programmed to generate any number of output frequencies in a wide frequency range, between 10KHz and 1GHz.
The MK3200GLFT also features multiple on-chip, programmable PLLs, along with an integrated fractional-N frequency synthesizer, providing excellent performance and accuracy in high-frequency applications. In addition, the device is also capable of synchronizing multiple output clocks with a reference signal. The on-chip synchronization logic also allows for a single reference signal to be shared across multiple output clocks.
The MK3200GLFT also includes a wide range of digital features, such as programmable delay lines, skew adjustment, and multiple output clocks. It also offers the ability to program its timing parameters, such as rising / falling edge delays, duty-cycle control, frequency offset and clock muxes. The device also features a wide range of output formats, including LVDS, SSTL-II, SSTL3 and others.
