The MM74C157N is a dual 4-bit multiplexer/demultiplexer integrated circuit (IC) designed to select or demultiplex binary data streams. It is made up of two independent 4-bit multiplexers/demultiplexers, each with four data lines, an enable line, and four select lines. The primary application for the MM74C157N is as a register file, where data can be shifted from one location to another and from one set of registers to another. In addition, with the active low setting, the MM74C157N can operate in ‘negate’ mode serial input and output combinations.
