The MMA5112LWR2 is a MEMS (Micro-electromechanical Systems) accelerometer whose principle of operation is based on the Coriolis Effect. It measures the rate of acceleration, deceleration, or tilt along its three axes and converts it into a digital signal that can be read with a microcontroller or other suitable processor.At the heart of the accelerometer is a vibrating structure made up of a silicon structure bonded onto a base plate. This structure is fixed to the base plate and the displacement of this structure is measured by two capacitive sensing elements (one in each axis). When acceleration changes, the Coriolis Effect causes the structure to move in a direction perpendicular to the applied acceleration. This displacement is measured by the capacitive sensing elements and is then converted into a digital signal. The digital signal is then transmitted to a microcontroller or processor where it can be used as input for a variety of applications.Features
