The MMAD1108/TR13 is an unidirectional symmetrical type TVS diode designed to effectively protect against lightning induced surges. It is made with a completely sealed construction and a flat surface that is suitable for surface-mounting. This TVS diode can be used with the reverse polarity protection for lighting protection. The comprehensive encapsulation used in the device allows for operation in temperatures up to 150 degrees Celsius.

At working voltages lower than the reverse breakdown voltage, the MMAD1108/TR13 behaves as a normal diode. As the working voltage reaches the breakdown voltage, the device enters avalanche breakdown mode permitting higher current flow. This current should be limited by an external resistor, and the TVS diode will be reset when the voltage reduces to below the breakdown point. This feature makes the MMAD1108/TR13 an ideal device to protect sensitive electronics from voltage spikes.
