The most common type of proximity sensor is the inductive proximity switch, which operates using the principle of a closed loop circuit. When an inductive loop of metal is in close proximity to a DC magnetic field, it induces a voltage, and this voltage change is used to detect objects or identify their position. The hall effect proximity sensor uses a similar technique, but makes use of a semiconductor material which is sensitive to changes in magnetic fields due to the presence of objects.Speed sensors provide an accurate indication of a motor\'s speed by using a tachometer, which is an electronic device which measures the number of revolutions per minute (RPM). The most common type of tachometer is the inductive tachometer, which works by using two coils and an AC current source. When the wheel of the motor begins to turn, it passes a magnet through the coils, inducing an AC voltage in the coils, which is then converted to a DC signal, which is proportional to the speed of the motor.Finally, the MP201801 series of Magnetic Sensors come equipped with a number of modules for more precise measurements.
