MPC506APG4 is an off-the-shelf, low-power, space-saving, non-volatile Analog Switches, Multiplexers, Demultiplexers and interface IC from Microchip Corporation. With a 2.0 mm x 2.0 mm quad flat no-lead (QFN) package, it is designed for robust operation in industrial and automotive applications. Its features include high linearity, low on-resistance delay, low leakage current and very low quiescent current in logic-ON and logic-OFF state.

The MPC506APG4 provides maximum linearity performance needed in industrial and automotive applications, specifically where high density, low power and low-power dissipation requirements are expected. These environments may include light industrial automation, production automation, digital signal processing (DSP), interface communication, data conversion, motor control, industrial instrumentation and measurement, automotive infotainment and lighting, among other applications.

MPC506APG4’s intelligent extended control logic provides a continuation of logic control for switching and multiplexing operations. It supports one to 100V supply voltage, with the recommended operating voltage being 5V. The typical operating temperature range is from -40 °C to +85 °C.

The MPC506APG4 supports two switch control architectures. It comes with 32 single-ended control inputs and 32 single-ended control outputs, allowing for 64-bit input-output muxing per switch. These control bits can be used in combination to control up to eight analog switches, eight multiplexer/demultiplexer and sixteen digital latch for a total of 32 I/O devices.

The working principle of MPC506APG4 involves two basic switching operations. First, when a switch input and/or output is applied, the internal latch is turned on or off accordingly. This will set the high voltage state of the switch to high or low, depending on the state of the latch. Second, the analog signals that pass through the switch can be multiplexed, such that several signals are routed to different locations.
