Due to its excellent features, MPC8313ZQAGDC, a Quad-Core embedded 32-bit microprocessor from Freescale Semiconductor, has been widely used in fields ranging from industrial automation, medical and military to automotive applications. This microprocessor is based on Power Architecture e500v2 core and it provides an operating frequency of up to 1.5 GHz. It supports both classic and security instruction engine, enabling efficient protection and execution of code. It also supports multithreading and virtualization that helps in development of multiple real-time applications.
MPC8313ZQAGDC, with its four high-performance cores, runs at higher performance, while consuming lower power levels as compared to other single core architectures. This helps designers meet their power and performance requirements. Additionally, its 4 integrated byte-based DSPs enable efficient signal and image processing applications, even at the lowest power levels.
The microprocessor is provided with a number of peripherals including 2 USB 2.0, 1 Ethernet 10/100/1000 transform Media Access Control (TMAC), 1 UARTS, 2/4 SD/SDIO, 2 PCI Express, 2 serial peripheral interface (SPI) bus ports and 3 serial ATA (SATA) ports. These peripherals make this processor an ideal platform for communication and data storage. The processor also supports a peripheral bridge, which sets the bridge between the cores and local bus system, enabling users to extend the peripheral sets without affecting the performance of the system.
When it comes to internal memory space, the MPC8313ZQAGDC processor incorporates 16KB instruction cache as well as 32KB data cache with data cache parity and error control. It also supports up to 64GB of shared addressing space with ECC protection and branch prediction. This feature eliminates the need for separate instruction and data buses, thus saving power. Furthermore, this processor also supports up to 75-bit ECC protection on memory operations, preventing data corruption in the system.
