TWR-MPC8309 Application Field and Working Principle

The embedded system also carries the integrated Freescale PCM-MPC8309 processor.The purpose of the processor is to help manage the bandwidth characteristics of peripherals and ensure real-time response of the system, making it suitable for use in embedded applications. This processor offers several advantages over earlier processors such as its more efficient data communication and larger address space. It can also run multitasking applications with complex algorithms.The two memory controllers on board are designed to manage access to large amounts of data quickly and efficiently. The DDR3 memory controllers support up to 2 Gbytes of DDR3 memory. In addition, the board carries up to four USB controllers for communicating with external peripherals. The processor also carries Freescale’s System Management Unit (SMU) to control the system. This system management unit (SMU) provides functions such as reset, power-on reset, and programmable watchdog timer for resetting the system in case of an unexpected fault condition. The SMU also provides strategies for data encryption, secure boot, and thermal control in case of excessive heat.The TWR-MPC8309 evaluation board carries great potential for embedded applications due to its various features and capabilities.
