The MPC8555EVTRAKE is an improvement on the earlier MPC855 CPU. It is designed to be the embedded controller of choice for embedded applications with high processing demand. This processor builds upon the power of the MPC855 while providing improved performance, higher integration and flexibility, greater scalability and longer lifecycle.

MPC8555EVTRAKE application fields include industrial automation, automotive, robotics, embedded systems, medical and military devices, networking and communication and many more. As a processor for embedded applications, MPC8555EVTRAKE offers the benefits of lower system cost when compared to the traditional, VME boards. The high performance of the processor, coupled with low power consumption, makes it suitable for a wide range of applications.

The MPC8555EVTRAKE processor is built around a 64-bit microprocessor core, using technology from Freescale Semiconductor. This core features a power-optimized system bus, enhanced instruction set and improved memory and I/O subsystem. The processor also supports up to 32KB On-Chip SRAM with ECC, independent dedicated instruction and data caches, and dual on-chip bus interfaces (each with independent external bus masters) which provide the flexibility to arrange modules independently.

The MPC8555EVTRAKE processor supports multiple operating systems, including Linux, Windows CE and the Realtime Operating System (RTOS). It is suitable for applications like industrial automation, automotive and military control, communications, networking and machine vision.

The working principle of the MPC8555EVTRAKE processor is quite simple.
