MPC862PCVR80B is an integrated embedded CPU module designed for embedded application. It is a powerful 32-bit RISC architecture microprocessor with powerful software integrated peripherals, advanced video interfaces, and interconnects, with higher performance and created to lower system cost and smaller form factor.

Application Field

MPC862PCVR80B can be widely used in a range of embedded applications. It can provide embedded system product design for medical, industrial control, and traffic & communication applications, such as HMIS, motor control, CCTV, access & security control and digital signage applications. It is also suitable for gaming, automotive entertainment, broadcast, interactive kiosk, regulatory and other interactive electronics applications.

It featured with CompactPCI form factor and is designed with a highly integrated CPU architecture, as well with multiple peripherals, allowing system integrators to build solution that can deliver higher performance within a smaller form factor. Furthermore, its strong I/O capability, particular JTAG I/O and comprehensive software support, allows developers to integrate the product for the targeted application in an easy and yet effective way.

Working Principle

MPC862PCVR80B is based on an embedded processor. It consists of a 16/32-bit Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC) processor core and 32-bit enhanced bus architecture. It also provides numerous peripherals, such as a cache controller, programmable timers, unified interrupt controller and dual ports with FIFO buffers. The on-chip 12-bit A/D converter and 32-bit byte-wide data bus controller allow enhanced address and data portability. For system performance, the embedded processor has an on-chip high-speed floating point unit, a 64-bit instruction, data, and address bus, as well as four priority interrupt levels.

The MPC862PCVR80B is designed with multiple peripheral devices that interact with each other to constitute the working system, these peripheral include a serial port, an Ethernet controller, an I/O controller, a timer, a watchdog timer, and an 8052 microprocessor. These peripheral devices communicating with the MPC862PCVR80B processor core via a unified interrupt controller. The processor core implements a memory interface to access the external memory, such as ROM and RAM, so as to handle logical operations and data transactions.

The processor core also implements an optimized instruction set that can accelerate the execution speed of RISC instructions and most of the microprocessor-related instructions. For instance, the processor core can directly access the RAM memory by just a single RISC instruction, so as to reduce the execution time of memory access and realize a high execution speed.
