Working Principle

The MSMLG75A has a TVS diode which is designed to provide protection against high voltage transients and surges. The TVS diode consists of a single n-p-n-p structure with two capacitors on the p-n-p side. The two capacitors provide a capacitive element which is used to decrease ESD current paths. This helps to reduce the voltage at which ESD current begins.

The two capacitors also provide a high frequency bypass element, providing protection from high frequency transient spikes. This bypass element is used to attenuate the surge voltage spikes, reducing the voltage to a normal operating level. The presence of the two capacitors also increases the current handling capability, allowing the TVS to protect against higher voltage transients.
