Working Principle

The MSP430F2013TPW features an integrated 16-bit high-speed CPU core that can execute up to 3 instructions in a single cycle enabling the device to achieve up to 12.8MIPS at 16MHz clock rate. The core features a 16-bit arithmetic logic unit (ALU), 32-bit program counter, three data pointer registers, and 16 memory access registers (R0-R15). The MSP430F2013TPW provides 256K-bytes of flash memory and three banks of RAM. Each bank of RAM has 64 Kbytes of SRAM and 128 Kbytes of RAM. The MSP430F2013TPW also comes with 512 B of OTP RAM.The 16-bit RISC CPU provides a programmable stack pointer, 16 X/Y/Z index registers and 32 working registers that are used to hold intermediate results. The key feature of the MSP430F2013TPW is that it can be configured to run with lower power consumption, reducing current consumption and extending battery life. The device can operate in either Active Mode or LPMX. The Active Mode is the most traditional operating mode where the device runs at maximum performance. The LPMX mode is designed for lower power consumption and implements power management features such as CPU clock gating and reduced frequency modulation of peripherals.The MSP430F2013TPW also features on-board debugging capabilities which allow for programming and debugging from the onboard emulator. The debugger supports the following features: flash storage, register and memory viewer, break point programming and debugging.
