MSP430F5508IPTR Application Field and Working Principle

MSP430F5508IPTR embedded microcontrollers are available in integrated packages and feature diverse ROM, enhanced I/O,and two high-speed 32-bit/16-bit timer, an on-chip real-time clock module (RTC), 12-bit A/D converter with up to 11 channels and 24 general-purpose I/O pins. With increased SRAM, enhanced I/O, and integrated features, the MSP430F5508IPTR is highly suitable for applications such as medical embedded system, instrumentation, consumer products, and motor control.The MSP430F5508IPTR provides multiple integrated features including DMA, read-only memory (ROM) for user code and data, random access memory (RAM) for user data, flash memory, hardware multiplier and on-chip analog components. The ROM memory can be up to 32K of code with 15K of RAM memory while the SRAM memory can range up to 4K of RAM. Furthermore, MSP430F5508IPTR has three communication ports and up to four parallel ports. This allows for high speed communication between units and in between the integrated peripherals. The architecture consists of the Central Processing Unit (CPU), the Digital Signal Processor (DSP), the main memories (ROM, Flash, and SRAM), the peripheral devices and a power-management unit as well as Input/Output (IO) interfaces. The MSP430F5508IPTR microcontroller clocked by an external oscillator or internal high-speed oscillator. The peripheral controller includes Synthesizer, which supports different frequency modules from 1MHz to 32MHz and Timer which generates real-time clock, programmable watch and count.
