MSQC6412C

MSQC6412C is a display module, which belongs to LED Character and Numeric. It is usually deployed in industrial and commercial operations, such as elevators, instrumentation, household appliances, automotive parts and industrial control systems. This display module has excellent visual performance and reliability.

The MSQC6412C is a so-called \'5x7 matrix dot matrix display module\' and works with a 12-pin row and column drive. This module has two rows with 24 characters and yields a total of 64 characters. The module contains a 4-bit latch to store information content in its memory. The module can be driven by ISD0818 or ISD0820 integrated circuits.

The MSQC6412C has an onboard multiplexer, which is a switching circuit used to select one of several input lines and direct it to an output. In this case, the multiplexer selects one row after the other within the display matrix, while the column connections remain stationary. Since this display module is a matrix of dot LEDs, each row has to turn on and off in succession so that all dots are illuminated.

This matrix uses a row-column drive, which means the row connections to the module are only active and the respective state of the column connections are stored in the module’s memory. So, for displaying one character, the code for that character needs to transformed and stored in the module\'s memory, and then cyclically scanned from there.

Aside from the MSQC6412C, there are other modules which are similar to this one. These modules are generally available in different sizes; they typically have bigger displays or smaller displays. While these larger displays hold more characters and offer better readability, the small display modules tend to be cheaper.

The MSQC6412C and other similar display modules are currently deployed in a wide range of applications. These include medical instruments, factory automation systems, point-of-sale signs, barcode scanners and vending machines. Its low power consumption and robustness make them perfect for commercial operations and industrial control systems, while its miniature size and high brightness offer an excellent visual performance for outdoor uses.
